About the artist
Dzia is one of Belgium’s best-known street artists. His graffiti background and a Master’s degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp have led to a globally unique painting technique with a spray can, which Dzia uses to bring animals to life in the big city.
At the heart of Dzia’s work is the presentation of the animal world – a recurring motif that Dzia interprets by means of a complex graphic interplay of lines and has an immediately recognizable value. Wild animals, foxes and birds appear again and again in Dzia’s detailed depictions. The aim of his work is to reconnect people with the nature that surrounds them in the city. His colorful, dynamic murals bring nature back into urban spaces, creating spaces for animal protagonists that surround people. “It’s more than just art, it’s something you feel and see,” says the artist.
The energetic power of his works and his unmistakable artistic signature are generating international enthusiasm: Dzia’s large-format murals not only characterize the Belgian cityscape, but also provide visual impulses in metropolises such as Mumbai, Shanghai, Tunisia, Norway, Italy and Spain.
