About the artist

AL aka. Denkstahl is a self-taught artist and has worked for more than 25 years. Growing up in Frankfurt’s cultural milieu, the society’s shady scene shaped the early days of his life and later also his art. In 1993, AL began to dedicate himself to writing, poetry, painting and visual communication. Initially he was devoted to abstract painting, in particular to Action Painting; later sociocritical comics and cartoons found their way into his work.
